Digital Wish Grant

NYSCATE just announced the NYSCATE-Digital Wish Grant - DEADLINE SEPT 30, 2008

Digital Wish is a website designed to help educators find funding for classroom technology. Teachers register, create profiles and shop for much-needed technology products, similar to a wedding registry. Wish lists stay posted online and teachers can then elect to use their profile to fundraise for donations from parents, the community, or administrators. Digital Wish also runs a monthly grants program. Anyone who has registered and created a profile is automatically entered to win one of 43 Digital Wish technology grants. Check out the monthly Digital Wish grant schedule here: http://www.digitalwish.com/dw/digitalwish/grants_sched.

Win a site license of Tool Factory Software for your school!

The NYSCATE Digital Wish Grant is a new program created exclusively for current NYSCATE members. Simply register on Digital Wish and enter “NYSCATE” into the “Professional Associations” field of your profile page. Three winners will be selected at random on September 30, 2008 at 5pm EST and awarded $1,000 in Tool Factory Software each!

To enter the Digital Wish/TLN grants contest:

Register for Digital Wish www.digitalwish.com. In “My Account” Click “Edit Profile”. Enter “NYSCATE” in the field “Professional Associations”. Optional – Enter “www.nyscate.org” in the “Association Website” field. Select “Save”.

US. Constitution Day

The following is from the U.S. Department of Education's Teacher Initiative Listserve:

To mark the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, Congress has asked that educational institutions take one day to teach the document that shaped America's democratic government. In support of students and teachers in their studies, a variety of online resources are available from the Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE) web site. Additional resources are available from the National Archives and Records Administration and the National History Education Clearinghouse. For more information, please go to http://www.ed.gov/policy/fund/guid/constitutionday08.html.

Also, on Constitution Day/Citizenship Day, schools are encouraged to participate in "Pledge Across America." The synchronized Pledge will begin at 2:00 p.m. EDT; 1:00 p.m. CDT; 12:00 noon MDT; 11:00 a.m. PDT; 10:00 a.m. in Alaska; and 8:00 a.m. in Hawaii.
